June 26, 2015 - Searchlight NV - As part of our Basin & Range Watch lawsuit along with Friends of Searchlight Desert and Mountains and local residents against Department of Interior and Apex Energy (as Searchlight Wind Energy, LLC), represented by Dave Becker Law Office of David H. Becker and Erin Madden of Cascadia Law, to halt development of the proposed Searchlight Wind Energy Project on yucca-studded hills near the Colorado River, we listed here the related documents. Apex-Navy curtailment agreement: The US Navy made an agreement with the project applicant Apex Clean Energy, Inc. to avoid conflicts of spinning wind turbines with their Naval Air Warfare Center Weapons Division at China Lake in the California Desert, while conducting sensor tests. When a "clean doppler radar environment" is needed by the Navy, Apex has agreed to curtail wind turbine generators temproarily, and the rotors are locked so they do not move. The spinning blades cause electromegntic interference. The curtailment agreement is for up to 300 hours per year.
